They might have looked like the biggest fruits on the face of the planet, but in my opinion Pretty Boy Floyd were that last of the great glam/sleaze bands. They really took the androgyny thing to a whole other level... which was a little weird, but it worked for them. They never really got big outside of the glam scene (probably because they were a few years too late), but this video is great:
